Young fisherman reels in monster catch twice his size

A younger fisherman has reeled in a doubtlessly record-breaking catch — a large tuna twice his measurement.

Lochie Miller, 10, was fishing along with his dad Leo of their catamaran “Choona Chasa” off the southern-most tip of Tasmania final Sunday.

Off Maatsuyker Island, Lochie managed to snag the most important catch of his profession — an 88kg southern bluefin tuna.

However the battle to get it into the boat was a protracted one.

“Inch by inch we lastly acquired the factor to the boat and managed to win the day,” Mr Miller stated.

Lochie stated it had taken two hours and 45 minutes to lastly reel it in.

“Very drained. Cannot-stand-up drained,” Lochie stated.

Mr Miller stated he was assured Lochie’s catch had set the brand new document for his age group — the present document holder a 44kg prize.

The pair have been fishing collectively for Lochie’s entire life.

“I took him out (fishing) when he was six weeks previous — a lot to my spouse’s amazement or disgust,” Mr Miller stated.

The tuna itself has been filling the household’s plates for days now.

“I’ve already had three meals of him,” Lochie stated.
